Hi, today while surfing the net i found this utility. Have not tested yet since to use this HDD on your HDD you have to remove it from your system i.e; attach your HDD on other's system, run this program on that system and ask the utility to restore the size of your HDD.
This utility claims that it can restore your HDD size - since sometimes the size of HDD on OS is not actually what it physcially is, the reasons can be read here

And here is the utlitiy link

NOTE:
Read the comments at the bottom on of the blog. it may answer lot of questions that you are gonna ask here.

have you read the blog before posting this?
Do you know what is the diff between GigaByte Storage and Binary Storage Capacity?

Full capacity restore where do you think cache and buffer memory comes from in HDDs? and yes binary storage is how the computer sees into free and occupied space on HDD it labels free space with zeros and filled space with ones and GB storage we all know that.

just a lil advice. "Prepare well before you speak" .. and "never think watever knowledge you have is complete or best"
Binary and decimal storage gigabytes
Hard drive manufacturers use decimal gigabytes while operating systems use binary gigabytes. One decimal gigabyte contains 1 000 000 000 bytes (1000 x 1000 x 1000), whereas one binary gigabyte contains 1 073 741 824 bytes (1024 x 1024 x 1024) — that’s more than a 7% difference! So, your 300 GB hard drive will show up in Windows as a 279 GB hard drive.

Its an obvious thing that HDD manufacturers show up 40000MB as 40GB same case as in internet speed megabits i.e., 100MBPS = 1000KBPS not 1024KBPS and btw we are talking bout the software here and after reading the blog i figured out dat this software is of no use for people having a custom built pc coz no HDD manufacturer will ever limit the space and even if this so called software increases the space then it just makes OS show up space in terms of decimal gigabytes thats it, so eventually the space remains the same unless ur having an oem pc.So this information I think will open the gates of your mind and maybe u will stop fooling urself.

And btw that GB shown by OS is not actually "Gigabyte" its "Gibibyte" so its not actually GB its GiB, so i think u shud edit your post above my friend & watch urself b4 blaming others better luck next time.
