Full Version: Pop Star Atif Aslam Is Youngest Pak Civilian Awardee

raat ki rani
Atif Aslam of the 'Woh Lamhe' and 'Tere Bin' fame has become the youngest Pakistani pop star to receive the 'Tamgha-e-Imtiaz', a civilian award given for doing the Pakistan proud globally. The musician, who has been a huge hit in India since he sang "Woh Lahme" which was picturized on Bollywood's Emran Hashmi, showed up in a black sherwani to receive the award from the Punjab Governor on Pakistan Day on March 23rd. Aslam, who has performed in about 25 countries in 2007, says that he got the award because he represented Pakistan a lot this year outside the country. That's what the 'Tamgha-e-Imtiaz' stands for. It's awarded to people who make Pakistan proud globally.

Significantly, Aslam has friends as well as critics in India. While Bollywood's sultry actress Bipasha Basu is crazy on Aslam, the Indian singers including Sunidhi Chauhan and Abhijeet criticise Pakistani pop singer and claim that Aslam cannot sing! Aslam doesn't contest the Indian singers' criticism and admits that he has never claimed that he can sing. He says, "I never said I can sing. Look, unlike these guys I have no professional training and I always say that I cannot sing. I agree I cannot sing. What's amazing is that I've made a career out of doing something I can't do," Aslam adds. Asked about joining Bollywood, Aslam said, "I have offers but am waiting for the right script, no matter how clichéd that sounds. Right now my music career is going great." Incidentally, Shoaib Mansoor whose critically acclaimed film 'Khuda Kay Liye' on the life of Muslims in the post-9/11 era releasing in India on 4th April was given Pakistan's highest civilian award, the "Sitara-i-Imtaiz".

midnight children uska pehla novel tha... and it was a best seller... isi ki base par he was awarded the title of "Sir"... jo novel anti islamic tha that was "satanic verses"

movie main facts ko twist kiya gaya tha... if u want me to go thru em i can do that for u

as for muslim scholars there is a school of thought which agrees that music is allowed.... but thats hardly 20% so u cant imply those "views" as islamic... 2ndly when u talk about islamic scholars.... its a proper way n a proper degree that u hav to reach... amir liaqat aint a islamic scholar

well being a pakistani and a muslim i wud really prefer staying unrecognized rather being known for what i am not!!! sitara-e-imtiaz waisay aap log dillip kumar ko bhi day chukay ho

the thing is called "giving an example" lemme go baq again you said that khuda kay liye was a great movie... and so is the novel by salman rushdie... on basis of novel writing it is one of the best... so if u make a movie or do something it doesnt matter, what matters is wats "in" it

and cacn u please tell me how many people visit this forum who go to a proper school of islamic studies???

and how can u be sure of those 20% being correct??

agar aap nay religion ko study kiya ho to u wud get to know that in sunni sect there are two major school of thoughts... Braivli and Deo Bandi.... none of em are in favor of music being injected... I dont have enough knowledge abt the shia sect so cant comment... n u r totally right keh movie kay baad music sunanna na logon nay band kiya hoga na shuru... but the thing is that keh ghalat cheez ghalat hoti hai chahy uska effect ho ya na ho

Xcuse Me? where did he cum from? i never said hez a scholar... by scholars i meant proper scholars with a DEGREE n who r involved in many islamic activities in pak... ive seen them talkin on the tv... n appreciating the movie!
can you please name em, two i know are tahir-ul-qadri and ghamdi.... tahir sahib apart but ghamdi is himself a very controversial person.... anywayzzz i didnt saw any of the popular scholars favoring music

well well... i just dnt understand why pakis have to crtisize everythin... why dnt ppl luk at the positive side of the things... i agree there myt be sum controversial things said in the movie BUT movie mein kuch acha sabaq bhi tha!

and you are totally right keh movie main kafi positive parts bhi thay infact they were more then the negative ones... but still rather then giving both parties equal chance shoaib was a lil biased... dunt u think the whole movie was more about extremism n in the end it became totally about music and muslim gal marrying a non muslim guy??? sadly "pakis" criticize everything related to religion.... n he cud hav made a brilliant movie without injecting religion into it... but just to satify his ego he did it....

well i wuz just tryin to giv u an example when u said na keh sitara-e-imtiaz sirf pakistanio ko diya jata hai i just reminded that we hav awarded to dillip kumar as well

first i dun go to any proper islamic school nor m sum kindda scholar thats the reason i follow people who have more knowledge then me... and those people dont believe in music being injected into islam

lemme quote u again
how can u be so sure abt those 80% being correct?!? n kindly mujhey woh % bhi bata dijiye jis school of thought k log music nhi suntey!

hope this answers ur question as for u "researching" lady may i ask how many books of sihah-e-sitta have you read???

ok you might not know the names but internet is a big world you can explore n please let me know...

as for the post... been there done that smile.gif as i told u earlier that m not much of a student of religion myself... so i cant go on n debate....

a very short example, when u read a newspaper do u go on checking each n every incident on your own??? you dont you believe in the reporters that as they have been there.... this is the case with people we cant go on reading all the hadith books... so we simply believe in the scholars!!!! hope it makes some sense unsure.gif
