The fifth number plus the third number equals fourteen.

The fourth number is one more than the second number.

The first number is one less than twice the second number

The second number plus the third number equals ten.

The sum of all five numbers is 30.



What were the five numbers and in what order?

Let the second number be x

Fourth number -> x + 1
First number -> 2x - 1
Third number -> 10 - x
Fifth number -> 14 - (10 - x) = 4 + x

x + x + 1 + 2x - 1 + 10 - x + 4 + x = 30
4x + 14 = 30
4x = 16
x = 4

The first number is 7
The second number is 4
The third number is 6
The fourth number is 5
The fifth number is 8

Order:
7, 4, 6, 5, 8
