Kaisay hain sab dost? After a long time I'm sharing something here. Kuch din pehlay online hua tha aor "ASK US" mein aik member nay request ki thi 'MASK' k liay. So, I thought to write something according to my practice. So, lets start...
NOTE: I used "Adobe Photoshop 7.0"
"The MASK"
(Part 1)
(Part 1)
(I’M SORRY I DON’T HAVE URDU INPAGE TO WRITE THE TUTORIAL IN URDU).
First of all I would like to tell you what exactly the ‘mask’ is. MASK is little bit complex. (I call it Complex in a sense of powerful and versatile). We can use it in creating multi images, wallpapers, collages, CD labels and in web designing as well.
The simple and accurate example of the MASK is ’Printing a negative’. While printing from a negative we shine the light through the negative onto light-sensitive photo paper. Wherever the light hits the paper, the paper gets darken. The color to which it darkens depends upon the intensity/color of the light. Sometimes, we don’t want to print the whole negative but a part of it and we use ‘cardboard’ for this purpose.
I’ll show U an image to demonstrate. See below:

(Yaa’ni: Jab hum kisi negative say print karna chahen, ek light (bulb) ki roshni us negative say guzaartay huay aik photo-sensitive paper par daaltay hain, jo k baad mein gehra ho jaata hai. Aor yeh us soorat mein hota hai jab hum negative ko as it is print karna chahen. Lekin agar hum negative ka kuch hissa print karna chahtay hain to phir aik ‘cardboard’ use kia jata hai jis mein aapki requirement k mutabiq hole ho ya jaisa bhi design aap chahen.)
Waisay negative par tape kar k bhi yeh kaam kiya ja sakta hai
In our case this ’cardboard’ is a MASK.
In Adobe Photoshop, a 'mask' works in the same way. The negative in the above image would be the layer that you have the complete image in it. The cardboard will be the layer mask attached to that layer, which tell what part of the image should shine through and what part should be hidden or blocked from view. And what you see when you’ve applied the mask is the finished photographic layer.
Here I’d like to explain a little about BLACK & WHITE mask. Rather than being a piece of cardboard, a mask in Adobe Photoshop is a layer completely filled with black. To cut a hole out of the mask, we paint on it with WHITE. A complete WHITE mask will allow complete layer to show through, whereas a complete BLACK mask doesn’t allow any of the part of it. Have a look on these images:
