Right off the bat, I must say that 'Righteous Kill' is not an amazing movie with a great story. It is a B-movie with a good cast and good acting, the story is satisfactory. Obviously, this movie stars two of the greatest actors in history. Robert DeNiro and Al Pacino. They are fantastic together and have great chemistry. This is not as good as Heat, the first movie they did together, but it is entertaining. The one great thing about this movie is that DeNiro and Pacino deliver excellent performances as partners in the NYPD. The rest of the cast also does a good job in playing out the story.
While there is some action in this movie, the main element is that it is a psychological cop-drama. Throughout it keeps the audience in the story and waiting for what will happen next. It never seems too unbelievable or boring. Again, the story is not amazing and the movie is not a classic, but it is great entertainment, which is what a movie is supposed to be. If you go in to see this movie expecting a classic, you will be disappointed. It is entertaining, and is a good movie, but does not have greatness. What it does have is lots of drama(how can it not?), the movie does have a good amount of comic relief, a fair share of action, and other elements that make a good movie. If you get into it, you will have an excellent movie experience because this ensemble cast really does very well with what they are given to work with. DeNiro and Pacino do a great job in this movie, they really are what made it good. Overall, 'Righteous Kill' is great entertainment.
