Full Version: The Old Man And The Goat
Once upon a time there lived an old man. One day he went to the village to buy a goat. He bought the goat and put it over his shoulder.Then he walked home.
By the side of the road there were three wicked robbers. They saw the old man carrying the goat, and one robber said to the other two: 'Look at that old man! We can play a trick on him and steal his goat.' Each of them hid behind a tree. Then the first robber walked up to the old man and said: 'Holy Sir. Why are you carrying a dog on your shoulder.?'
'This is not a dog!' shouted the old man. 'It's a goat. You're a fool!'
'Don't be angry,' said the robber. 'Go wherever you want to.'
The old man walked on and after a time hemet the second robber.
'Why are you carrying a dead wolf on your shoulder?' asked the robber. The old man got angry. 'You fool!' he shouted. 'This is a goat, not a wolf.' 'Don't be angry,' said the robber. 'Go wherever you want to.'
The old man went on his way and after a few minutes he met the third robber.
'Hello, old man!' said the robber. 'Why are you carrying a donkey on your shoulder?' The old man did not get angry this time; he got sad. 'I'm carrying a ghost!' he cried, and threw the goat on the ground. Then he ran home to his village. The robbers were very happy. They took the goat and ate it.
